- ➤ The Shenango River Watchers is hosting Eagle Fest 2026 this Saturday, Jan. 10 at Shenango River Lake. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chestnut Run Swim Beach and features presentations by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and a live Wings of Wonder program, along with eagle spotting and an art competition announcement. - ➤ Sebring Local Schools won state awards for their PBIS programs supporting students' behavioral, academic, social (and mental) health. B.L. Miller Elementary earned a gold designation and McKinley Jr./Sr. High received silver. WFMJ
- ➤ At Monday’s board meeting, Howland’s superintendent Kevin Spicher awarded certificates to current members Perry, Pegg, and Altawil while recognizing departing members Jones and Miller as the district celebrated its service during January’s School Board Recognition Month (new members Reynolds and Vennitti were also welcomed earlier that evening). - ➤ Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership hosted meetings Wednesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library to seek input on a $2.6 million EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant for five abandoned gas station sites. The grant would remove underground tanks and contaminated soil to ready the sites for homes, parks and businesses. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Trumbull County commissioners will hire a new dog warden in the next several weeks to move forward with a new dog pound in Warren. Officials & the advisory panel are reviewing financing and site options for the facility, which could cost up to $4M. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ PUCO approved on Wednesday a settlement requiring FirstEnergy-owned companies to refund nearly $280M to customers over several billing cycles; the settlement includes $249M in restitution, refunds for improper charges, and $20M to support low-income programs. WFMJ
- ➤ Former Boardman fiscal officer William D. Leicht, 80, died Saturday after serving the township for 30 years and was remembered for his reliable leadership; visitation will be held Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home (4700 Market St.). The Vindicator
