- ➤ Liberty’s fifth and sixth grade Student Council organized a food drive in December at Church Hill United Methodist Church (189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road) to support the Liberty Food Pantry by collecting over 3,000 donated items. The contributions help nourish roughly 90 local families each month. WFMJ
- ➤ Operation Search and Help launches its inaugural Coffee Tour for free coffee and community support; it starts Friday at High Octane on 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road in Austintown and will conclude May 20 at Culture House Coffee Co. in Youngstown. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Goodwill Industries launched the 2026 Thrift Trail on Monday to guide residents from Jan. 12 through March 31 to thrift shops that support local charities + community services. - ➤ On Dec. 22, Schwebel’s Baking Co completed a $6,250,000 sale-leaseback of its two properties on E. Midlothian Blvd. The bakery will continue its operations under new ownership by SYOHB LLC (Glen Cove, N.Y.), with workers remaining in place. Tribune Chronicle

- ➤ Youngstown Press Club is accepting applications for up to four $4,000 scholarships for college sophomores, juniors, and seniors studying journalism and related fields; applicants must live in local counties and have a 3.0 GPA. - ➤ Youngstown State University received the Carnegie Foundation Elective Classification for Community Engagement on Monday morning, highlighting its strong partnerships with the Mahoning Valley and beyond. The award is valid until 2032. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Canfield High School earned an AP School Honor Roll title for the 2024-2025 school year after expanding AP course access that offers college credit and rigorous coursework to prepare students for college and careers. WFMJ
