- ➤ The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library hosted an America250-Ohio game exhibit Wednesday, showcasing board games from different eras with info sheets explaining their history (including Candyland and an Atari system). - ➤ Trumbull County commissioners approved vacating 5,580 ft of Niles River Road between Burton Street & Deforest Street to improve access for the upcoming Kimberly-Clark facility in Warren, a project expected to create nearly 500 permanent jobs. - ➤ Youngstown City Schools remain under Academic Distress Commission oversight after superintendent Jeremy Batchelor met via Zoom with state education officials on Wednesday; he said state legislation is needed to lift the designation, and the district continues its fourth year of an Academic Improvement Plan. - ➤ Hubbard High School students from Future Educators of America thanked their teachers with letters and T-shirts during homeroom today after the holiday break - a gesture that showed how much they value the positive impact these educators have on their lives. The Vindicator
- ➤ Champion board of education has approved former member Aaron Abrahamson to fill a vacancy on the board. He won a November 2023 election to serve an unexpired two-year term through December and may run again in November 2027. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Nearly 55 young inventors from across Ohio will display their inventions at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon for National Kid Inventors’ Day. Three ninth graders from Niles will show off Flock Lock before competing at Invention Convention U.S. Nationals in June. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Cooper Terziu of MCCTC becomes the first student in the Networking and Cybersecurity program to earn both the CompTIA A Plus and CompTIA Network Plus certifications. He earned the milestone while working as a Level 1 Technician at Avrem Technologies and plans to continue studies at Kent State University. WFMJ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A developer filed over 3,000 pages with the Ohio Supreme Court Tuesday to push Lordstown officials to process its 133-acre data center project, which would create 1,600 construction jobs and 120 permanent roles and includes a $10.8 million offer for water upgrades and a community fund as negotiations continue. - ➤ Trumbull County commissioners closed several government buildings Wednesday after a sewer repair project in Warren produced a chemical odor that raised safety concerns. SERVPRO was called to clear the smell with air scrubbers and hydroxyl generators and officials will update if the buildings remain unsafe by tomorrow. WFMJ
- ➤ Howland commissioners unanimously voted to close Pine Avenue between Burton Street and Deforest Road beginning March 27 to build a new road for Kimberly-Clark's manufacturing facility. Drivers will use a detour along Route 169 that adds less than three minutes. WFMJ

- ➤ Mahoning County Public Health got a $440K grant from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health to fund its Pathway Community HUB Model that connects community health workers with mothers at high risk for timely prenatal care — the program also supports education, employment, housing and behavioral health to improve birth outcomes.
