- ➤ Sixteen family-owned businesses are to be honored today at The Lake Club in Poland from 5 to 8 p.m. by the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber in partnership with Huntington, HBK, Roetzel & Andress and JFS Wealth Advisors (keynote speeches by Whitney Haslam Johnson and JW Johnson of Haslam Sports Group). - ➤ Local leaders including Rev. Simon shared personal remembrances of Jesse Jackson's civil rights advocacy and noted his historic work in the valley. They call on younger generations to honor his legacy of inclusion and social justice while the community mourns his passing. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Charlotte, a 3-year-old French Bulldog from Hubbard, is in the quarter-finals of America’s Favorite Pet Competition. Voting is open daily with ballots beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 - a win earns her a magazine cover and $10,000 with some funds to local animal charities. WFMJ
- ➤ Boxing legend Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini donated $30,000 to the first responder wellness center in Boardman Tuesday to support physical and mental health services for local first responders; $15,000 of the donation came from his own contribution. The funds were raised at his sold-out Fight Night event. WFMJ
- ➤ Austintown Senior Center has been renovated with updated facilities, fresh paint, and a new mural by local art students. New director Brittany Koch said she plans to soon expand health and education programs for seniors and community members — additional grants and township funding support the center’s upgrades. - ➤ Crews are repairing a sinkhole on Bennington Avenue near Parker Avenue that has closed the road between Parker Street and Mackey Avenue, so drivers should avoid the area until repairs are complete. WFMJ

- ➤ Vallourec signed a memorandum with Baker Hughes Tuesday at its Youngstown plant to boost green hydrogen storage and will integrate its Delphy system with Baker Hughes compression solutions + support sustainable industrial projects. The Vindicator

- ➤ Local pastor Kenneth Simon said Jesse Jackson’s legacy is deeply personal since his father once led his local campaign in the 1980s and marched with him in Selma. Community leaders believe his work will inspire the younger generation to continue the fight for social justice. The Vindicator

- ➤ Teachers Lori Moncilovich of Poland Seminary High School and Kevin Dalley of Struthers High School were honored by the Ohio Lottery as part of the Science of Reading Awards; each receives a $250 gift card plus 10 educators have now been recognized with additional winners announced in April. - ➤ Warren City Health District is testing geese along the Mahoning River and in local parks for bird flu and advises residents to avoid contact with sick or dead birds (including keeping children and pets away) until test results are confirmed. WFMJ
