- ➤ The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Columbiana Area Chamber finalized an affiliation in January that preserves local decision-making while adding staff support and more programs, with expanded offerings planned later this year (to help small businesses). WFMJ
- ➤ Primanti Brothers closed its South Avenue eatery on Monday after a 10-year run in Boardman as the chain shuttered several locations to adjust operations. The restaurant (opened in 2015 and marked its Ohio debut) said its iconic sandwiches remain unchanged. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Deerfield Ag Services in Deerfield and Kinsman transitioned to employee ownership on Feb. 1 through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, following years of planning by the Wallbrown family & preserving its local focus. Employees will earn ownership shares over time while longtime staff continue serving local farm families. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ The Youngstown-Warren Chamber and the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce finalized an affiliation agreement in January that expands local advocacy plus connects Columbiana members to new opportunities while keeping local control. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bazetta Township will resume its Music in the Park series on Wednesday, June 3 at the township park, with concerts scheduled every Wednesday and Sunday until August 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. Guests should bring their own lawn chairs (a food truck will be on site for refreshments). WFMJ
- ➤ The Howland Tiger Band will host Band-O-Rama Unleash the Roar at 4 p.m. Saturday at Howland High School gymnasium. Every band from grades 5-12, including Caribbean, jazz, pep, and drum line, will perform with free admission and available concessions. Tribune Chronicle

- ➤ A new scholarship offering up to $3,000 has been introduced for Mahoning Valley students with Type 1 Diabetes. The program will help students manage education costs and is now accepting applications — check eligibility details. WFMJ
- ➤ Christine Hanysh (Director of Social Services at the ESC) is set to receive the 2026 Friend of School Social Work award from the Ohio School Social Work Association for her support of school social workers, and she will be recognized on March 6 at the OSSWA Annual Conference. WFMJ
- ➤ Lawmakers in Ohio are considering HB 326, which would let public+charter+private schools use ACT+SAT or other approved tests to measure college readiness. State colleges would then be required to accept every test approved under the College and Work Ready Assessment System. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Howland Springs Primary School is introducing an outdoor classroom called Reading Woods to integrate outdoor exploration with curriculum using the school's wooded area. An Earth Day event is planned that will engage students with interactive activities while the school seeks grants and donations for additional features. Tribune Chronicle

- ➤ Four local fire departments (Braceville, Newton Falls, Green Township, Jackson Township) received VFA grants from ODNR Division of Forestry; they got $7,500, $4,047.66, $9,759, and $8,811.30 to improve equipment and wildfire readiness in rural areas. Tribune Chronicle
