- ➤ Students from Austintown Fitch High School unveiled Generational Austintown, a vibrant mural featuring township landmarks such as the Austintown Library, the former high school and the 9-11 Memorial Park, at the Austintown Community Center on Tuesday. WFMJ
- ➤ Women’s History Month has events including a dress-up session at Struthers Library until March 31, a Wonder Woman Wednesday panel today at Poland Library (entrepreneurs share stories) from 4 to 5:30 p.m., trivia challenge on Thursday, a LeadHERship Summit on March 19 in Niles and March 21 celebration in Warren. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At East High School on Saturday, cadets from regional schools competed in a drill competition to showcase their precision, leadership, teamwork, and academic skills. East High School cadets earned overall first place and swept the podium in the Individual Knockout event. WFMJ
- ➤ On Saturday in Lisbon, Crestview eighth grader Caitlin Clonch won the Columbiana County Spelling Bee by spelling tough words including gemini. She will compete in the national bee in May in Washington, D.C. The Vindicator
- ➤ Three finalists for the next Poland superintendent were interviewed at Poland Seminary High School earlier this week (Andrew Tommelleo, Andreas Johansson and Anna Minor). The board will review community feedback and make a final decision by the end of the week. The Vindicator
- ➤ Howland High School held its Military Signing Day Tuesday to honor two graduates who enlisted in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Reserve. Principal Joe Simko noted the school (Purple Star designation) supports military families and military pathways. WFMJ
- ➤ YCSD unveiled renderings for a project that upgrades East High School as it transitions into Youngstown High School in Fall 2026. Construction will start in May or June and finish around August or September (the plans include a new lobby and plaza renewal). WFMJ
