- ➤ Jarel M. Gadson hosted Community Game Night at the Wickyards on Saturday, where neighbors played custom games inspired by a popular Netflix show. Gadson, who turned his life around after a decade in jail, said he will hold more events — to help neighbors meet and find job leads — to build a better local community. The Vindicator
- ➤ Saturday’s Taste of Liberty fundraiser at Liberty High School brought together 13 local vendors and student art and music performances — including prize-winning works by freshman Karter Alexander Thompson — to raise funds that will support crucial improvements for the Liberty Local School District. - ➤ Ohio nonprofit The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption reported that its Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program has helped 15,000 foster care children find permanent homes over 20 years — nearly 1,800 in Ohio. The foundation said there were 25 adoptions in Mahoning County and 68 in Trumbull County as it plans to expand the program to all 50 states. The Vindicator

- ➤ Youngstown Fire Department crews responded to a garage fire on Utilis Street around 10 a.m. Sunday, which left the garage heavily burned with a collapsed roof—officials said no one was injured and the nearby home was vacant while the cause remains unknown. WFMJ

- ➤ The Butler Institute of American Art opened an exhibition of abstract paintings by Chuck Olson yesterday at 524 Wick Ave in Youngstown and it will run until May 18. A meet-the-artist event was held from 1 to 3 p.m. with a talk at 2 p.m. and a hardcover book of his work is available for purchase for $70 with tax and shipping. WFMJ
