- ➤ All About the Party will host the community’s largest free Easter egg hunt at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds next Sunday — 45,000 eggs will be scattered with candy and prizes, and some eggs will hold bigger items like bikes, TVs and stuffed animals. The egg hunt will follow the Junior Fair Board’s spring breakfast, which is set from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 6. WYTV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two Chase Bank employees filed a lawsuit against LY Property Management, Yo Properties LLC, Greenheart Companies LLC and Enbridge Gas Ohio over injuries from the Realty Building explosion in downtown Youngstown that left one worker with serious traumatic injuries—shoulder, knees and head, which caused him to lose consciousness—and resulted in lost wages claims. - ➤ Insight employees at hospitals in Trumbull County did not get their weekly paychecks as of Friday morning—Chrissy Lewis of the union confirmed that no one received pay yet. The union said it reached out to Insight for answers about the delay. WFMJ
- ➤ Insight employees experienced a delay in paychecks Friday which raised urgent worries about covering bills — union leaders and staff now call for the company to enforce contracts as operations at Insight Trumbull were halted. Some workers received voided checks and remain unsure when they will get paid. WYTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Christopher O’Brien, a Masury man who pleaded guilty to fraud charges in a scheme that defrauded a Sharon non-profit health network out of over $2 million using sham contracts, inflated bids and kickbacks between 2011 and 2019, will be sentenced on July 1 after his sentencing was delayed for the fourth time at his lawyer’s request. - ➤ Andrea Springs was sentenced on Friday to seven to nine years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for shooting a woman outside a Tyrell Avenue apartment complex last March — her sister Lisa received a two-year sentence for driving the car used in the incident. WYTV

- ➤ Choffin Career & Technical Center launched two new Care Closets on the second and third floors to provide students in need with essential personal items and non-perishable food. The initiative was led by Assistant Principal and Dean of Students Denise Zordich + United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley. WFMJ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ During the 2024-25 hunting season, 24 white tailed deer tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease out of 5,783 tested — none were found in the Mahoning Valley. The Ohio Division of Wildlife confirmed the fatal disease affects deer and similar species and does not spread to humans. WFMJ

- ➤ Youngstown City Council will consider an emergency measure next week to allocate up to $200,000 from the Covelli Centre Fund for cleanup, restoration, repair and kitchen replacement after a frozen water line in the fire suppression system broke on January 25. The city filed an insurance claim with Tokio Marine and awaits the adjuster's report while much of the damaged equipment, including several key kitchen appliances, is original to the venue that opened in late October 2005.
