- ➤ A Newton Falls house fire left one person in critical condition as emergency crews worked to control the blaze — investigators are looking into the cause. WFMJ
- ➤ A man from Champion died when his pickup truck left the road on West Park Ave just before 6 a.m. Saturday, striking a utility pole and bridge foundation in Weathersfield Township—officials said the crash is under investigation. WYTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday evening, a local union honored Youngstown firefighters for their work during last year's Realty Building explosion and recognized two retirees—Capt. Leslie for 25 years of service and Capt. Gene Cook, a native of Youngstown who served 27 years. Capt. Thomas Gibbs received a medal of honor for his quick response and Youngstown State President Bill Johnson spoke at the event. WYTV
- ➤ On Saturday afternoon, many gathered at Youngstown’s main post office on S. Walnut Street to protest plans to privatize the postal service—Dominic Corso of the American Postal Workers Union warned that privatization will raise shipping costs for everyone. WYTV

- ➤ Insight facilities closed its psychiatric unit and discharged all patients, leaving 35 beds empty and forcing transfers to Youngstown or farther hospitals—raising local mental health concerns.
