  • Mill Creek Park Golf Course has added new amenities (including updated practice greens) aimed at boosting the local golfing experience. The enhancements were revealed Apr. 3 and are now available for players to enjoy.  WFMJ
  • Registration is open for the 17th Annual Panerathon in downtown Youngstown, with a 10K run/walk and two-mile option planned for Sunday, Aug. 23 to support breast cancer care. Runners will pick up packets on Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Covelli Centre.  WFMJ
  • A $25,000 gift from an anonymous donor will let the board vote Monday to sign a lease with Safe Haven Baby Boxes for a baby box at Austintown’s main fire station on state Route 46, aiming to offer a safe option for mothers in crisis.  The Vindicator
  • Cockeye Creamery has launched its new 'Banana Cream Pie' flavor to benefit Gateways to Better Living (a nonprofit serving over 200 developmentally disabled adults) with the ice cream available through the end of June.  WFMJ

  • Mill Creek Park Golf Course has restocked its pro shop with new golf equipment and apparel for players — locals can enjoy an enhanced shopping experience as they plan their next round.  WFMJ
  • Kohan Retail Investment Group fell behind on property taxes in March — owing about $500,913 — yet trustees said discussions with the new Southern Park Mall manager went well, and Kohan stressed the mall remains safe, stable and open for shoppers.  WFMJ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • YSU’s Art Department scheduled a summer art camp for high school students from June 22 to June 26 in Bliss Hall. Students will learn various art forms from college faculty and display their work at a campus gallery, with registration costing $325 (deadline June 5).  WFMJ
  • Warren City Schools are ramping up efforts to improve attendance after noticing rising chronic absenteeism. The district will use early intervention, enhanced tracking, and incentives + community support this spring to help students stay on track.  Tribune Chronicle
