- ➤ A Trumbull County grand jury indicted 37 individuals on Thursday with one indictment kept secret—arraignments for cases including sexual offenses, assault and drug charges in Warren and nearby areas are set over the next two weeks. Tribune Chronicle
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On April 3rd, FirstEnergy requested a $190M rate review from PUCO that included a $46.5M increase for Ohio Edison customers—independent auditors later found the change would raise revenue by only $8.5M and recommended an $18.7M decrease while Ohio Consumers’ Counsel urged all companies to receive a rate cut. PUCO has not issued a decision and will hold public hearings in Toledo, Cleveland, and Akron. WFMJ

- ➤ Thousands of protesters gathered Saturday in Warren, Youngstown, and Mercer County in the 'Hands Off!' demonstrations—organizers said the events aimed to defend democracy, equity, and accountability against concentrated power. WFMJ
- ➤ The Ohio Controlling Board will consider a request on Monday to release $17,241,380 from the All Ohio Future Fund for a development project covering more than 1,000 acres in Warren, Howland and Weathersfield Townships—this funding will pay for site preparation, transportation improvements and environmental cleanup while local partners add over $23.5 million in support. - ➤ FSIS announced that Johnsonville recalled 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst—possibly contaminated with hard plastic after two consumer complaints at a Momence, Ill. facility. The recall covers 19-ounce sealed firm tray packages produced Feb. 5 that were shipped to retail locations including Ohio and urges consumers not to eat or to return the products. WFMJ
- ➤ 300 Sisters in Red marked 20 years in the Valley on Saturday at the Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University by promoting education and awareness of women’s heart health—dozens of community members attended the annual event hosted by the Youngstown Chapter of the Links. WYTV
