- ➤ A town hall meeting was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Kent State Trumbull in Warren for workers affected by the layoffs and closure of Insight Trumbull and Insight Hillside. Lawyers who filed the class action lawsuit provided more details about the legal proceedings. WKBN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Howland man was sentenced on April 9 to 12 to 15 years in prison for pleading guilty to 18 counts involving child sex abuse material (including nine counts of pandering sex‐oriented material involving a minor) and he must register as a Tier 2 sex offender (a requirement of his conviction). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Youngstown State University and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center received state grants to update their lab and classroom equipment. YSU got $30,822.75 and MCCTC got $126,354.90 from a pool of $8.3 million awarded to 39 schools under the Super RAPIDS program — funds that will let them buy new tools. WKBN

- ➤ Howland Township trustees on Wednesday approved a 10-year—60% property tax abatement for Kimberly-Clark’s proposed 1.1 million-square-foot facility on Pine Avenue in Warren and Howland townships pending further approval from Warren Township trustees and Trumbull County commissioners. State funds of $17.2 million were released on Monday to improve transportation and clean up a 560-acre site expected to create about 491 full-time jobs over the next five years. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Crews from Generation X Contractors LLC began demolishing the long-shuttered South High Fieldhouse at 1840 Erie St.—the Board of Control hired the company for $113,876 and demolition will be finished by July. After the building is removed, the city will declare the property surplus and sell it to the Valley Legends Stadium Consortium at an appraised value of $64,460—plans call for a 3,000-seat stadium to break ground this summer with a spring 2026 opening. - ➤ Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown delivered his 2025 State of the City address Wednesday evening at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, stressing affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, public safety, and support for youth and seniors. He cited recovery from last year's Realty Building explosion and highlighted $13 million in rescue funds—key steps for future community growth. WFMJ

- ➤ The Mahoning County Career and Tech Center is expanding with a new 13,000 square foot health and wellness center that will serve students and families in the region. A groundbreaking is set for April 30 and construction will finish by August 2026 following a (5 million dollar grant) from the Appalachian Community Innovation Center in partnership with Mercy Health and Cadence Care Network. - ➤ A new health clinic and wellness center is planned to be built on the northwest side of the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield, with Mercy Health set to staff the facility and Cadence Care Network providing mental health counseling + behavioral health services. The groundbreaking is scheduled for April 30 and the clinic will open in August, offering walk-in care and supporting a new LPN program for students. WYTV
