- ➤ Gateways to Better Living will host a flash mob encore performance today at 12:30 p.m. at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre in Wean Park; over 300 participants will join Community Development Day featuring vendors, food, music and games. WFMJ
- ➤ The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley awarded $944,600 to 57 nonprofits in its first 2026 grant cycle to support programs across Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The foundation increased quarterly funding by about $200,000 and the next grant application is due April 15. The Vindicator
- ➤ Library officials at the Newport branch discussed whether to renovate the 25-year-old Poland Library (costing about $8.4 million over 30 years) or build a new 16,000 sqft facility 1.1 miles away during a meeting last Thursday; the board will review the options at a special meeting on April 29. - ➤ McDonald High School senior Ava Kuntz was honored on Wednesday by the local village council with the 2026 Serve Ohio Extraordinary Youth Volunteer Award plus a $1,000 donation to her service organization. - ➤ A Warren man escaped a Belmont Ave house fire early Thursday as firefighters battled flames for over three hours, leaving his home a total loss with $60,000 in damage and his three rescue dogs dead while he suffered minor burns. The Vindicator

- ➤ Vallourec signed a five-year agreement (which could lead to $800M in revenue) with Fervo Energy on Thursday to supply U.S.-made tubular solutions for geothermal projects from its Youngstown facility. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Seven businesses at Presidential Square in Boardman remain closed after a fire broke out at Cafe India Saturday, causing damage to equipment and products. - ➤ Ellsworth Township Fire Chief Edward Smith resigned after 35 years of service following Wednesday's trustees meeting. He led the shift from an all-volunteer unit to a full-time department + secured key upgrades in equipment and training. WFMJ
- ➤ Youngstown city council will vote in Wednesday's meeting on a $1.95 million request for sewer improvements at the industrial park on Exal Court, a project aimed at attracting new business + several council members have asked for more details. The Vindicator
