CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Garrett Craig, 32, pleaded guilty in February to leading police on a chase and was sentenced Friday to 30 months in prison in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court—police later found cocaine and crack pipes in his car during the chase. WYTV
- ➤ The appeals court denied Campbell man John Morgan's motion to reopen his appeal of a February 2024 conviction for the July 31, 2022 shooting death of Daniel Peek—ruling there was no evidence of ineffective counsel and noting ample witness testimony supported his 18-years-to-life sentence. WKBN
- ➤ Larese Allen, 31 (who already went to federal prison for a bomb threat), fired a gun in an East Side apartment during a fight and pleaded guilty on Wednesday, receiving a sentence of 7 to 9 years in state prison with no injuries reported. WYTV
- ➤ Robert C. Powell, 24, of Westend, N.C., was arraigned Friday at Campbell Municipal Court on aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges tied to a fatal crash on U.S. Route 422 in Coitsville Township—he remains in Mahoning County jail on a $127,500 bond and is scheduled for a second hearing at 11 a.m. April 17. - ➤ Canfield Fair Board President Dave Mannion announced on WFMJ Today that Brad Paisley—replacing Lady A—will headline Sunday's concert on August 31 and Lynyrd Skynyrd will headline Monday's show on September 1 at the fair. Tickets will go on presale via Ticketmaster on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. WFMJ

- ➤ At a board meeting on Thursday, the Trumbull Career & Technical Center approved a five-year contract for Treasurer Cody Holecko and accepted the retirement resignations of Robert Olesky and Cynthia Goff, effective June 1 and July 1. The board also hired new instructors and staff — renewed contracts for supervisors, approved a pharmacy technician program director, and set dates for summer programs, field trips, and ceremonies.
