BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sharon residents attended a meeting hosted by Keel Infrastructure about a new $5B data center planned for Clark Street, with construction set to begin in October if tests and permits clear. The project will create hundreds of jobs and upgrade power systems without affecting electric bills.  WFMJ
  • Forty Two Inc. and 898 Marketing announced a strategic partnership on April 14 to combine event production and marketing services in Mahoning Valley. The companies will work together to provide integrated planning, video production, and creative event direction.  WFMJ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Youngstown State University will stage Kiss Me, Kate (a musical that blends Shakespeare and jazz-age tunes) at Ford Theater in Bliss Hall from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon. Director Adam Day Howard said the production will draw a full house and include live student and local professional performers.  Tribune Chronicle
  • White House Fruit Farm — located at 9249 Youngstown Salem Rd. in Canfield — will open its annual tulip event today after winter weather affected 500,000 bulbs planted. Tickets must be purchased in advance to visit the fields or attend workshops where guests design floral arrangements.  WFMJ
  • Youngstown nonprofit Economic Action Group invites artists to propose designs for the America250 mural, Layers of Legacy, in downtown. Applications are due May 1 at 5 p.m., selections will be made in early May, construction is scheduled for June, and the mural will be unveiled on July 3.  WFMJ
  • At the Mahoning County Courthouse rotunda Tuesday, Rabbi Joseph Schonberger led a Holocaust remembrance event urging those present to honor local survivor stories and stand alert to antisemitism while contest winners for the Holocaust Writing, Art and Multimedia Contest were announced.  The Vindicator

  • Four eighth-grade students from Liberty Local Schools will head to St. Louis for the VEX Robotics World Championship from April 28 to 30. The Attack of the Sentinels team earned the invitation after ranking first in the state in the skills competition (by a 95-point margin).  The Vindicator
  • Youngstown State University will host Dr. Rana Awdish, a nationally recognized pulmonary and critical care physician and author, from 6 to 7 p.m. April 23 at Bliss Hall. The free event features a lecture and book signing for After Shock (parking available for $5 in the Wick Parking Deck).  Tribune Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • An Ohio EPA inspection found drinking water violations at the Village of McDonald on Apr. 14, and officials are reviewing the situation to decide next steps.  WFMJ
  • Trumbull County leads the region in kindergarten vaccinations for the 2025-2026 school year with an 89.2% immunization rate, per the Ohio Department of Health dashboard, which shows rates above the state average.  WFMJ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lakeview baseball beat Girard 14-0 in Cortland on Monday as Mackenzie Stowe hit two home runs (accounting for six early runs) to lead the Bulldogs to their fifth win, and they will travel to Poland on Wednesday before facing Hubbard on Thursday.  Tribune Chronicle
  • Local high schools concluded Saturday’s baseball and tennis games with Ursuline beating Struthers 15-2 and Mineral Ridge pitching a no-hitter against Waterloo (key matchups) while other schools recorded wins across the area.  Tribune Chronicle
