- ➤ On Wednesday night, the St. Demetrios Community Center in Warren hosted the 24th annual Community Stars awards dinner that honored 10 local volunteers for their service. Sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle and Trumbull 100, the event awarded plaques and proclamations from local officials. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Autism Society of Mahoning Valley received $50,000 in grants from the Community Foundation to expand programs for families and individuals in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. The funding includes $20,000 for improving behavioral health services and will help support autism programs from diagnosis through all life stages. WFMJ
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A work plan was approved to repair the damaged portion of Phoenix House following a natural gas explosion in November 2025 that displaced over 100 residents—nonprofits continue assisting those in temporary housing while the timeline for rebuilding remains uncertain. WFMJ

- ➤ Owner and ice cream maker Alyssa Newton at Lovie's Ice Cream introduced handmade flavors like Lucky Charms, Oreo, and Strawberry Pretzel Salad. The local shop has attracted neighborhood ice cream fans with its creative twist on classic treats. WFMJ

- ➤ River Rock at the Amp is gearing up for its 17th season this summer at Warren Community Amphitheatre. The concert series will start May 30 with a Jimmy Buffett tribute band and offer adult tickets while kids 12 and under receive free admission. WFMJ
- ➤ A partnership between YSU, the Steel Museum, and local historical societies secured a $17,574 grant from the Ohio History Fund to develop the America250 exhibit, which highlights five community themes. - ➤ Rev. Richard Murphy will retire as president of Ursuline High School on July 1 after a 14-year tenure, as Bishop David Bonnar granted his request and the Ursuline Board has begun its search for a successor. - ➤ Boardman students worked with Kent State researchers at Stormwater Park to test water quality and monitor stream flow as part of the H2Ohio program. The hands-on environmental science project gave them valuable real-world experience. WFMJ

- ➤ On Wednesday, Niles residents shared concerns at the city council meeting at the Niles Senior Center over plans for a proposed data center on Belmont Avenue, and a councilman proposed a six-month pause on votes until more details are gathered. WFMJ
- ➤ Trumbull County Commissioners approved a tax abatement for Everest Aluminum, which may set up in the West Warren Industrial Complex owned in part by Lake to River — details were shared tonight in a Watchdog report. WFMJ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ JFCS is offering three new 10-week Survivors of Suicide support group sessions to help those who lost loved ones. The first session began Tuesday and additional groups will start July 6 and October 6 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown every Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. WFMJ
