- ➤ Youngstown's Penguin City Foodie Fest will be held May 16 and 17 at Penguin City Brewing Company, featuring food trucks, live music, and boxing; food is available from noon with a $5 cover during band hours, and interested vendors can call Tra’von Eley at (330)207-3187 to secure a spot. WFMJ
- ➤ Homeowners on Meadow Lane in Howland Township face chronic flooding with every heavy rain that fills yards and clogs drains. Township officials advise property owners to clear debris while studies by Howland Township and the City of Warren will plan a long-term fix. WFMJ
- ➤ The Youngstown Skatepark Association and the parks department launch a mobile skatepark series this weekend at Richard W. and Eugenia C. Atkinson Recreation Center (903 Otis St.) with the first event Saturday, April 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but safety rules must be followed. WFMJ
- ➤ Mahoning Valley Young Professionals (MVYP) announced its 2026 25 Under 35 honorees, recognizing 25 local residents under 35 for leadership, innovation and community involvement; they will be honored at an annual gala at The Lake Club in Poland on Thursday, May 28. WFMJ
- ➤ Dylan’s House (a nonprofit supporting autistic individuals) held its annual Sunday Funday at Penguin City Brewing Company in downtown Youngstown, raising over $150,000 with more than 500 attendees enjoying live music, raffles and silent auctions. The funds will help build new houses for the autism community. WFMJ
- ➤ An online fundraiser page has been set up for New Middletown firefighter Hayden Sneltzer & his family after a house fire on Monday, Apr. 13 on the 4700 block of East Calla Road left them needing to rebuild. A resident was injured trying to rescue dogs that died in the blaze, and donations are expected for immediate needs. WFMJ
- ➤ Angels for Animals held its annual garage sale in Canfield from Friday, Apr. 17 to Sunday, Apr. 19, and early sales drew 1,486 visitors and raised about $160,000. The shelter will use the funds to hire a new graduate veterinarian & support animal care if it reaches its $250,000 goal. WFMJ

- ➤ Burlington will open its relocated Boardman store Friday at The Shops at Boardman Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. at 441 Boardman Poland Road. The store will offer bonus cards to the first 100 customers + make a $5,000 donation to West Boulevard Elementary School. WFMJ

- ➤ Poland Local Schools approved interim Superintendent Andrew Tommelleo's contract Monday, including a $5,000 stipend for mentoring Michael Daley, who will take over the superintendent role on Aug. 1 — Daley will continue as assistant principal at Poland Seminary High School until a successor is named. - ➤ Mahoning County Land Reutilization Corporation got a $230k grant on Monday to demolish unsafe buildings in Campbell, Coitsville & Washingtonville. The award is part of a statewide $7.3 million program aimed at reviving blighted sites for new housing, businesses & opportunities. WFMJ
- ➤ A section of Western Reserve Road between Market Street and Southern Boulevard will close eastbound for two weeks starting today. A detour directs drivers via Market Street, McClurg Road, and Southern Boulevard while crews widen the road and update traffic signals. WFMJ
