  • Burlington Coat Factory will take over the lease of the 28,880 square foot former Joann Fabric store at 441 Boardman Poland Road in Shops at Boardman Park on June 1 as one of 45 Joann leases nationwide—RAF Investments of Liberty Township owns the property.  WFMJ

CRIME NEWS

  • Eight people have been indicted on 83 felony charges for running a human trafficking ring that allegedly forced Korean women into prostitution at Tiger Spa and Sunny Spa on West Market Street in Warren—authorities said the crimes spanned more than five years.  Tribune Chronicle
  • A Trumbull County grand jury indicted seven people on over 100 felony charges linked to prostitution — including promoting prostitution, trafficking in persons, money laundering and corrupt activity — according to court records released Thursday.  WFMJ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Kimberly-Clark announced it will build a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at the former RG Steel site in Howland and Warren that local and state officials say will create over 900 high-quality jobs for the region. State and local leaders stressed the project supports workforce development and represents the largest industrial investment in Warren since the 1960s—promising lasting economic growth for the community.  Tribune Chronicle

  • Birdfish Brewing Company hosted a 'Dollars for Scholars' event on May 1 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. — $1 from every draft sold went to the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio’s scholarship fund that supports graduating seniors in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties, and additional activities and donation opportunities were available at the event — offering local community members more ways to contribute.  WKBN
