The Mahoning County Dog Warden said the dog pound reached full capacity on May 11 due to limited space for owner surrenders and a legal requirement to accept incoming strays.

They urged dog owners to keep pets in secure yards and update identification with collars, tags, or microchips — as some owners did not retrieve surrendered dogs.
