  • Today, cyclists start their third annual Ride to Build a Better Belmont at the B&O Station in downtown Youngstown with free entry and two available routes. One route begins at noon for experienced riders with a 32-mile ride to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport while a family-friendly 12-mile ride starts at 2 p.m. + a post-ride BBQ follows.  WYTV
  • Lowellville held a community event Saturday to honor 20-year-old Will McCaughtry when residents joined a Duck Derby that sold around 1,700 tickets to fund local senior scholarships and enjoyed a parade along Liberty Street. Village officials and local leaders celebrated the day by recognizing unity and community spirit.  WYTV
  • Volunteers gathered Saturday morning at Oak Hill Cemetery to place American flags on the graves of veterans, firefighters, and police officers ahead of Memorial Day. The Broadhead-Wydell Memorial Team led the event and local students joined to honor those who served—ensuring their sacrifices are remembered.  WFMJ
  • Gateways to Better Living won the 2025 Canstruction event at Eastwood Mall with a Pac-Man structure built from over 1,000 cans to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank — teams from across Mahoning Valley joined the 'Games: Win the Battle Against Hunger' contest — and the donated food will help the food bank after the summer display.  WFMJ
  • Molnar Farms opened its farmer market in Poland on Saturday — just in time for strawberry season — offering pre-picked strawberries, plants, vegetables and other groceries. The market is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it closes on Sundays.  WKBN

  • Youngstown police investigated a shooting on the east side on May 17 when a person was shot in the 1000 block of McGuffey Road near a convenience store—detective Mohammad Awad said the victim was in stable condition and did not cooperate with police.  WYTV
