Today, cyclists start their third annual Ride to Build a Better Belmont at the B&O Station in downtown Youngstown with free entry and two available routes.

One route begins at noon for experienced riders with a 32-mile ride to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport while a family-friendly 12-mile ride starts at 2 p.m. + a post-ride BBQ follows.

Lowellville held a community event Saturday to honor 20-year-old Will McCaughtry when residents joined a Duck Derby that sold around 1,700 tickets to fund local senior scholarships and enjoyed a parade along Liberty Street.

Youngstown police investigated a shooting on the east side on May 17 when a person was shot in the 1000 block of McGuffey Road near a convenience store—detective Mohammad Awad said the victim was in stable condition and did not cooperate with police.
