On Saturday morning, community members in Poland placed over 1,000 flags on veterans' graves at Riverside Cemetery as part of the 96th Memorial Day Procession and Flying Flags for Heroes initiative.
The event brought together local groups such as the Sons of the American Legion and youth organizations — ensuring that every veteran grave is honored.
Austintown’s Tooney’s Flavor House will have its grand opening on May 28—after holding soft openings since May 9 on Canfield-Niles Road.

Boardman won a district championship on Saturday when star pitcher Tori Strines pitched a one-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over Howland—her 12 strikeouts helped secure the team’s first title since 2011.
The Spartans also earned a share of the All-American Conference title and now plan to chase a state championship in Akron.
McDonald softball upset Mogadore 7-5 Saturday at LaBrae High School as catcher Addison Grewell secured the win with a key strikeout—earning the team its first district title since 2019.
