- ➤ Kenneth Newton, 26, was arraigned Tuesday in Municipal Court on a felonious assault charge for a 5:25 p.m. Monday fight at the Rescue Mission on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — his bond is set at $35,000, he faces up to eight years if convicted, and he is wanted in Franklin County for failing to register as a sex offender. - ➤ David Wright, 61 — accused of attacking a neighbor with a machete when the victim fought back with nunchucks on Aug. 31 — was found incompetent to stand trial in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court after an evaluation determined his mental condition cannot be restored. WYTV
- ➤ The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for tips to capture fugitive Jamel Smith, a 32-year-old black male wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority and U.S. Marshals Service for parole violations who is known to visit Youngstown, Cuyahoga and Summit areas. - ➤ Emergency crews responded to a reported car explosion on the 600 block of North Hartford Avenue around 9 a.m. on May 27, finding a Buick Invision with damage to the back right corner and debris scattered nearby (no one was injured) as police and arson investigators work to determine the cause. - ➤ Local artist R. Jason Van Hoose, a YSU graduate, is preparing to open his exhibit 'Time, The Earth and The Dream: A Retrospective' at the McDonough Museum of Art—set to run from May 30 to July 19. His paintings range in size from 4 ft x 5 ft to 9 ft x 12 ft and focus on popular imagery and science fiction. WFMJ

- ➤ Mahoning County Probate Court Judge Robert Rusu Jr. released documents showing that the family of Akil Drake, killed in the Realty Tower explosion, settled a lawsuit for $6.1 million—receiving about $3.6 million from payouts by three property companies, gas-related firms, and two design firms. - ➤ Attorney Gregg Rossi for developer Dominic Marchionda told a judge today that Youngstown's $834,608 lawsuit, filed on Nov. 21, was initiated after the six-year statute of limitations and should be dismissed — he argued that state audit reports from 2012 to 2014 support this claim. The judge has not yet ruled on Rossi's motions — a decision pending further review. The Vindicator
