  • Three young leaders were named as 2026 MVYP 25 Under 35 MVP honorees during the annual gala held Thursday night at The Lake Club in Poland; the award recognized Bryce Miner, Ashley Wellington, and Patrick McGlone for their strong community impact.  The Vindicator

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Union workers at Ultium Cells in Lordstown were notified on Friday that their return is postponed until August instead of Monday. About 700 employees will be placed on temporary layoff as production ramp-up planned for Q3 remains on hold.  WFMJ

  • On May 29, officials seized over 30 dogs from a Campbell home.  WFMJ

CULTURE NEWS

  • River Rock at the Amp returns today with a lineup of live music at the local venue, offering residents a vibrant evening of tunes. Organizers expect a lively, family-friendly event throughout the afternoon + evening.  WFMJ
  • Youngstown artist MoniKa Vega held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at Gallery 18's new space at 3507 Canfield Rd, Suite 5, showcasing her large-scale original art pieces + an e-book with insight into her artistic journey.  WFMJ
  • Anastasia James has been named the Butler Institute’s new executive director after a nationwide search, replacing interim director Larry Jones who led the museum since December 2025.  WFMJ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • City officials announced a nearly $40 million project to upgrade public facilities — planning is underway for construction to begin soon.  WFMJ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Friday, South Range students competed in the 26th Annual Raider Regatta in North Lima by floating cardboard boats behind the former high school, using math and science to test their designs and earn awards for sturdy build and smooth sailing.  WFMJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corp. received $1 million in grants to buy houses and rehab five homes, and Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio got $1 million to purchase and improve nine houses. These funds from the Welcome Home Ohio Program were announced Friday to boost affordable housing.  The Vindicator

  • South Range beat Norwayne (Friday, May 29) to advance to the state final four in the softball tournament, marking a key playoff win.  WFMJ
  • Maplewood won the regional softball final against Newark Catholic on May 29 — a thrilling finish that energized local fans.  WFMJ
