- ➤ Youngstown mayoral candidate John White had his bond revoked on Tuesday after he allegedly repeatedly contacted his domestic violence victim despite court orders—his follow-up hearing is set for Friday, June 13. WFMJ
- ➤ Dennis Sklenchar Jr., a Boardman man accused of shooting a stranger waiting at a bus stop in Liberty, rejected a plea deal and will go to trial on charges of felonious assault, possessing weapons under disability, tampering with evidence and carrying concealed weapons — jury selection is set to begin Monday. - ➤ Police arrested 25-year-old Darnel Sharper for disorderly conduct after a fight outside Downtown Hookah Bar — he was rearrested within three hours on the East Side for allegedly breaking a window with a rock. WKBN

- ➤ On May 5, Austintown Township trustees voted to end the police department’s K-9 program to cut costs, but a trustee secured donations to keep dogs Gunney and Eras on duty for the rest of 2025 (they were set to retire on July 1). The community gifts, which have reduced the needed $10,000 donation, came as the township readies for possible changes from pending state legislation. The Vindicator
- ➤ Vienna Township Trustees approved a resolution that cancels two fire and EMS levies from 2026 — this stops the planned collection of a 3.5-mill levy. WFMJ

- ➤ On Tuesday, a groundbreaking took place for a new 1,400 square foot home at 42 E. Wilson St. in Struthers with the Mahoning County Land Bank and YNDC developing the project using a $5 million grant + eligible buyers set to purchase the home through a Huntington Bank partnership as the city works on a property tax abatement and plans to build additional houses.
