Lake to River Economic Development received a $1 million grant from JobsOhio to help redevelop the former Huntington Bank building at 22 Market Street into a $13 million mixed-use space—this project will include offices, retail, and 71 apartments while the bank stays on the ground floor. Renovations will begin in the coming months.

Ohio lawmakers announced on Wednesday a proposal called the Property Tax Relief Now Act that combines measures to lower rising property taxes and offer relief to taxpayers.

The bill will cap school taxes, allow local homestead exemptions and improve voter oversight (it is set for committee review soon).

Ohio Senators on Tuesday changed a two-year, $60 billion state spending bill—adding a flat 2.75% income tax to start in tax year 2026, raising limits for school budgets to give property tax relief, and adding over $600 million to K-12 funding.

They also set aside $600 million from unclaimed funds for the Browns stadium and left plans for iGaming on hold as they work with the House to finish the budget by the end of June.

Southwoods Health in Boardman and Grove City Medical Center in Mercer County received five-star cleanliness ratings from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Becker’s Hospital Review.

The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods was the only hospital in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties to earn the honor—patient surveys helped secure the award.
