  • Newton Township Cemetery Bridge was restored and dedicated to local veterans on Saturday morning after receiving significant repairs, including new paint and welded beams. Local veteran organizations donated $50,000 toward the project—plaques remind passersby of their service, and VFW Post 3342 provided a free luncheon for attendees.  WYTV

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was shot in the arm near the 300 block of North Maryland Avenue in Youngstown on Saturday afternoon and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries & no arrests have been made.  WYTV
  • A shooting on Youngstown's west side near North Maryland Avenue at around 4:00 p.m. Saturday sent one person to the hospital with a non-life-threatening arm wound—police are investigating and have not named any suspects.  WFMJ

  • The Public Library of Youngstown hosted a Zoom event for Pride Month featuring Sage Cotugno—an author and animation veteran who created The Glass Scientists, a graphic novel reimagining of Dr. Jekyll that engaged local viewers like Quinn and her 13-year-old son, Liam.  The Vindicator

  • Cadence Care Network CEO Matt Kresic said he supports OhioRISE, a Medicaid program launched in 2022 that coordinates care for children with complex behavioral health needs in our area.   • Sixteen local softball players were named to the Coaches Association All State teams today (in Divisions I, III, V, VI and VII). The honorees include Kaliana Ray and Abby Toth for Division I, Addie Rudge, Tori Strines and Sydney Lutz for Division III, Gabby Gradishar, Caitlynn Pleska and Riley Rowe for Division V, Mileena Williams and Chloe Angelo for Division VI, and Olivia Matheny, Addison Marker, Maddy Hufford, Claire Urchek, Jaylynn Hupp and Tatum Hudak for Division VII.  WFMJ
  • Youngstown middle school students attended a football camp on Saturday at YSU’s Watson and Tressell Training Site—led by Atlanta Falcons secondary coach Justin Hood through his Audible Project—to learn key skills and values.
