  • The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County holds a community feedback meeting at Poland Branch tonight at 5:30 p.m. — residents can share feedback on a potential library relocation prompted by a study on the branch's design issues and a May 20 vote.  WFMJ

CRIME NEWS

  • The Mahoning County Coroner's Office identified 18-year-old Dailyn Ford as the victim of a fatal shooting on Youngstown's South Side on June 18 at about 1 a.m.—officers said gunfire struck nearby homes—and detectives are investigating with no suspect named.  WFMJ
  • Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge Anthony D’Apolito ordered that 83 year old Charles G. Ratliff be held without bond in his drug case after police arrested him for aggravated burglary at a downtown high rise — he allegedly tried to stab a man with a knife and his preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday.  The Vindicator
  • 71-year-old Thelma Fields said she looks just like her late mother—murdered in 1996 on Wick Avenue—and hopes this resemblance will make the alleged killer nervous as police continue to search for answers in the cold case.  WKBN
  • Ervin Craft, a Pennsylvania man who skipped his 2015 drug trial and was on the run for over eight years, was sentenced Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to five years in prison—he pleaded no contest to trafficking in cocaine and will appeal his sentence.  WKBN
  • Ron Singh, the owner of a Struthers gas station, missed his court hearing on Tuesday and now faces an arrest warrant for dumping hazardous waste into a storm drain—investigators say he collected leaking gasoline from his pumps, which led Mahoning County Hazmat to clean up the spill while the Ohio Attorney General's Office prosecutes his case.  WYTV

  • Longtime educator Mrs. Barbara Taylor was honored Tuesday for 70 years of service to the Youngstown City School District at South Side Academy, where school leaders celebrated her retirement; the 89-year-old teacher mentored many students and stressed that learning starts at home—she credited strong family involvement with shaping early education.  WYTV
