- ➤ Team Peacock will join Panerathon on August 24 at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown; members must register by August 15 with packet pickup on August 21 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. + each team member will pay $20 and the event will support the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. WFMJ
- ➤ Family and friends held a benefit dinner on Sunday in Youngstown to support Bre Reyes, who is in the hospital after an ATV accident on June 12. They raised money through dinner + a raffle and FaceTimed her while she begins a long road of physical therapy before her full recovery. WYTV
- ➤ Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters will host a Rally for Residents fan drive outside International Towers in downtown Youngstown Tuesday (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.) to collect fans and air conditioners for residents who need help coping with the heat due to limited air conditioning on most floors. WFMJ
- ➤ Braceville kicked off its 250th celebration on Sunday (July 13) with a fun day at the township park. The event featured historical displays, games, and food while a series of monthly programs will take place through July to honor the town's past. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Seventeen-year-old Audrey Anderson, an honors student at Cardinal Mooney, leads her crochet and knitting club 'Hooked on Hope' to make handmade items for kids at Akron Children's Hospital—her club meets every other week and will next gather at the Main Library in Youngstown in room 205 on July 17. - ➤ The annual Girard Mt. Carmel Festival kicked off on West Wilson Street—offering food, games and nightly shows from 6 to 11 p.m. each evening and will end on Wednesday with fireworks as part of a family tradition started in the 1970s. WKBN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A building caught fire on the 600 block of Porter Street NE in Warren when it ignited around 6:30 a.m. Sunday—news crews are en route to cover the incident. WKBN
- ➤ A car traveling south on N Glenellen Avenue flipped when a vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of N Glenellen and Oakwood on Sunday evening — one person was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries while the other was not injured. WKBN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown — who leads the city — will hold a news conference today to announce a new curfew for juveniles that sets specific times for children to be home. The new rule will change the current order that prohibits anyone under 17 from being on city streets from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. WYTV

- ➤ McDonald High School’s Blue Devils improved last season by scoring 10 more points and allowing 9 less, winning 7 games and reaching the postseason. Coach Dan Williams—entering his 26th season—said his senior class led the team as they prepare for their home opener on August 22 against Champion. WKBN
