- ➤ Braydich Dental in Hubbard raised $10,500 by selling custom teeth whitening kits from March 1 to June 30—donating all proceeds to support the Rich Center for Autism in Youngstown. The donation will help the center expand therapy and educational services for autistic children and young adults. WFMJ
- ➤ Darrell Jones organized a city-wide baptism that will take place on Saturday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Northside Pool, following a large turnout last year with 15 pastors available for participants. WKBN

- ➤ Striking Teamsters at Republic Services extended their strike to the Mahoning Valley on Tuesday with picket lines at the Carbon Limestone Landfill on State Line Road in Lowellville. The union said the strike now impacts 2 million people and stops trucks and trains carrying 12 million pounds of trash per day from unloading — prompting Republic to hire replacement drivers. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Thirty-nine-year-old James Jackson—who worked as a corrections officer and maintenance worker at the Trumbull County Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg from 2022 to 2024—pleaded guilty to smuggling drugs, SIM cards and a cell phone into the prison after meeting an inmate’s wife and taking a $1,000 bribe; he could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine with sentencing not yet scheduled. - ➤ A 20-year-old Brookfield Township man pleaded guilty to two second-degree felony counts of pandering child pornography and now faces up to 20 years in prison — authorities found the illegal material on his devices after a tip to the Internet Crimes Against Children task force and he will be required to register as a tier 2 sex offender for the next 25 years. - ➤ Amber Foster was arrested after a disturbance at a Boardman restaurant when she refused to change her work attire, swiped at officers, and injured one officer—she now faces charges for assaulting an officer, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. WKBN
- ➤ Saucerrae Burt, 29, pleaded guilty in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on June 18 to charges of assault and resisting arrest after she cut a police officer’s neck during a struggle downtown on April 28 and was sentenced to probation with the first six months in the Mahoning County jail—crediting 44 days served. - ➤ Republic Services sanitation workers have gone on strike over a contract dispute, causing trash pickups in Youngstown to stall and leaving 12 million pounds of trash per day piled up on trucks and trains. More than 2,000 Teamsters have gathered at the Carbon Limestone Landfill in Lowellville & joined a nationwide protest calling for fair pay. WFMJ
