- ➤ Eight residents who opted out of Norfolk Southern's $600M settlement filed a lawsuit accusing the railroad of negligence after a Feb. 3 derailment released hazardous chemicals and damaged properties. The complaint, now in Ohio’s Northern District, cites a controlled burn of vinyl chloride and notes that a local EPA monitor recorded a five-fold rise in particulate levels. WFMJ

- ➤ Three women—watching a fight at the Pit Stop gas station in Warren—were hit by a vehicle on Monday night and taken to St. Joseph Hospital; they chased the car along Youngstown Road after recording the incident, but police have not located it. WKBN
- ➤ A Warren man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony animal cruelty charge after Leonidas—reported to be 30 pounds underweight—died Monday morning; Judge Patricia Knepp ordered him not to own any animals while two other dogs were taken to a shelter. WFMJ

- ➤ A 100-year-old organ built in New York and delivered in 1925 still plays world-class music in a Boardman shop after a 10-year restoration by Vic Marsilio. A special performance with organist Ian Fraser will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at C and C Ribbon and Floral. WKBN

- ➤ Ohio disciplinary officials recommended an 18-month suspension from practicing law for former Struthers Municipal Judge Dominic Leone after a May 21 hearing found he repeatedly broke key rules. Twelve of the 18 months will be held if he meets conditions — including an evaluation from the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program — before he may return to law practice. WFMJ
- ➤ The Eastgate Regional Council of Governments is urging Mahoning Valley governments to review the 2026 Target Bridge List and apply for federal funding to repair or replace nine local bridges. The Municipal Bridge Program — offering 80% for initial engineering work and 95% for construction on projects up to $2.5 million — will accept applications until Aug. 15. WFMJ
