- ➤ A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Camilo Barreto, 38 — accused of murdering Nestor Diaz, 37 during a property fight on April 4 at a home on Tippecanoe Road — after he fled and was tracked in Baldwin Borough, then booked into Allegheny County Jail pending extradition to Youngstown. WKBN
- ➤ On Wednesday, Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a Wellsville house on Commerce Street where agents seized over 300 grams of suspected drugs and $1,345 in cash while one suspect—reported as a large-scale supplier—fled before he was caught in the backyard after jumping from a second-story window and another man was also detained. - ➤ The 25th annual festival opened on Thursday at the Youngstown Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel where YSU President Bill Johnson awarded scholarships and Monsignor Michael Cariglio received a lifetime achievement award and a key to the city—while the Little Prince and Princess Pageant crowned Paul Cross and Isabella Hull as winners.
