- ➤ Consumers National Bank is designing its first full-service branch in Mahoning County at South Avenue in Boardman, replacing the current loan production office. The new branch will feature a bank lobby, night depository, drive-thru teller and drive-up ATM, create five local jobs and open in summer. WFMJ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Michael Stacy, 35, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, attempted aggravated arson, abduction and trespass after he assaulted his elderly relative on October 17th and was sentenced to 13 to 18 years in prison—he will also register as a violent and arson offender. WYTV
- ➤ Youngstown police were called Tuesday just after 2 a.m. to reports of a stabbing at the private CoreCivic Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Hubbard — an inmate was stabbed with a homemade knife in his back, face, and arm and taken to the hospital as investigators continue their inquiry. - ➤ A former Mahoning County deputy, Kip Danks, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to misprision of a felony for interfering with a drug investigation into alleged seller Hure Orr+ he faces sentencing on Nov 19 with plea details not released. WKBN

- ➤ Local Taylor Swift tribute band Miss Americanas will perform at Eastwood Field on Friday, Aug 1 at 7 p.m. as part of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 2025 Concert Series—local singer Candace Campana will open with a heavy metal set while VIP tickets offer extras such as a limited edition T-shirt and meet and greet. - ➤ Ohio households are paying 10-15% more on their electric bills this summer because PJM's auction prices and high demand from AI data centers have driven up costs. - ➤ Ava Yeager was named interim treasurer for Youngstown schools on Tuesday — after seven years of service — and she will manage state and federal funds following Bryan Schiraldi’s departure for a job in Aurora. - ➤ City officials and project engineers will explain Mill Creek Park’s Interceptor Sewer Improvement Project on August 4 at 5 p.m. in the Covelli Centre’s Community Room at 229 E. - ➤ Mahoning County announced that roads will be closed in Beaver Township for culvert repairs next week—Renkenberger Road will be closed from August 4 to August 5 and Lincoln Road will be blocked between Lynn and Calla Roads from August 6 to August 8. WKBN
- ➤ Two road projects in Mahoning County have been delayed from their planned schedules. The Renkenberger Road closure in Beaver Township will occur on Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5 + the Lincoln Road closure will take place on Wednesday, August 6 through Friday, August 8. WFMJ
