- ➤ Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley started the Homeless to Homeownership program to help clients create budgets that focus on paying debt and buying only necessities, said CEO John Muckridge. - ➤ A Miller Street man, Brandon Crespo, 27, was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on 10 counts of breaking and entering South Side businesses—including a Dunkin’ Donuts—and he has remained in jail since his June 4 arrest on the 1300 block of Powersdale Avenue while facing further charges in municipal and county courts. - ➤ More than 20 local arts organizations and city school programs will receive grants from the Ohio Arts Council as part of the fiscal year 2026 state budget — Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties will share a total of $324,502. Awards include a $103,939 grant to the Butler Institute of American Art and additional funds for local arts and educational programs, marking the council’s largest grant round in its history. - ➤ Jefferson County commissioners announced a plan to use the Reverter Clause to regain control of the Eastern Gateway Community College property—if approved, Youngstown State University may occupy the campus while another part is developed for economic growth. A court hearing is set for Sept. 8 to decide on ownership. WKBN
- ➤ Downtown roads in Youngstown will be closed Tuesday for milling and resurfacing. The closures include Elm Street from Wood Street to Rayen Avenue, Champion Street from Boardman to Front streets, Walnut Street from Front Street south to the Covelli Centre parking lot and W. Federal Street between Phelps and Hazel, while sidewalks remain open for pedestrians. WYTV

- ➤ Mercy Health introduced a new imaging system at its downtown site at Saint Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown which captures patient images in four seconds—about a quarter of the time of older machines and aids in diagnosing conditions like cancer, stroke, and injuries.
