  • Oak Hill Collaborative will host its first annual Community Connect Weekend at its Main Branch at 507 Oak Hill Ave. in Youngstown with an E-Waste Collection Drive on Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and a free vendor fair on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.—a $10 fee applies for printers and a $20 fee for CRT monitors or televisions.  WKBN

  • Today at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield, the 13th annual America Makes Members Meeting and Exchange opened with 400 representatives from government, industry and academia gathering to discuss opportunities and innovations in additive manufacturing—key speakers and workshops will drive discussions over the next three days.  Tribune Chronicle
  • Foxconn sold its Lordstown facility’s land and equipment to Crescent Dune LLC in a $375 million deal+ the company said it will remain at the plant to build an artificial intelligence data center and expand automotive production. Foxconn stated the transaction will improve operational flexibility+ reinvest proceeds for future growth in the Mahoning Valley.  The Vindicator

CRIME NEWS

  • Youngstown police are asking the public for help in finding David Morales-Fernandez, 44, who was last seen at 11 a.m. on July 27 on the South Side—he is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, wears black pants, Adidas shoes with white soles, and a white and black jacket with emoji sayings, and he has eyeglasses, a bald head, a scar on his neck, a voodoo doll tattoo on his left arm, and a monster tattoo on his left leg.  The Vindicator
  • Federal agents arrested 31-year-old Tyrone Crafter at his home on New Court—located two blocks from Oak Hill Renaissance Place where key county offices are housed—after a search seized over 2,400 grams of meth, nearly 1,700 grams of fentanyl, five firearms, and evidence of a marijuana grow operation; he now awaits a preliminary detention hearing Tuesday at Mahoning County Jail.  WFMJ
  • Police arrested 35-year-old Robert Earl Wilson on Sunday morning after he harassed a parishioner at St. Dominic’s Church by throwing a bottle and challenging a man to a fight—officers later found a .44-caliber Desert Eagle with two rounds in its magazine and he faces multiple felony charges with a preliminary hearing set for August 11.  WKBN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Youngstown State University museum received a $12,640 sustainability grant from the Ohio Arts Council to support its Emerging Artist series and other art programs. The award is part of 965 grants totaling over $23 million for art and nonprofit projects in the 2026 fiscal year.  WKBN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The city will start a wastewater project in January that will replace 8,000 to 9,000 feet of sewer lines with a 96-inch line and close roads, trails, and local sites around Lake Glacier for over two years. City council is set to vote on authorizing up to $43 million in work on Aug. 26—this project will lessen untreated water flowing into local waterways.  The Vindicator

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Austintown Township Trustees approved a new settlement agreement related to the opioid epidemic during their Monday meeting and have received about $95,000 from an earlier deal. The township will save funds from the $198 million settlement for training or equipment to help save lives—though the money cannot be used for policing.  WFMJ
