- ➤ Foxconn announced it was selling its Lordstown plant and all equipment to Crescent Dune but said it would continue operating from the facility, setting the stage for hardware production for data centers (AI technology is expected). Youngstown Chamber President Guy Coviello said the turnaround brings the formerly shuttered plant back into use and noted more details will be announced soon. WKBN
- ➤ SoftBank purchased Foxconn's Lordstown manufacturing plant on August 4 for $375 million & may use it for data center projects while Foxconn continues to run the facility. A tech analyst said the deal may boost Lordstown as a rising hub for AI & tech jobs. WFMJ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police said Choice D. Washington, 34, died Wednesday after being shot in the head — his body was found early Sunday morning in the 300 block of Scott Street NE in Warren — and his death was one of three shooting incidents within less than nine hours. WKBN
- ➤ A Trumbull County grand jury indicted 10 people and a business in Warren on over 60 charges related to a human trafficking operation at Tiger Spa & Sunny Spa that exploited women from January 2018 to May 2025, with defendants scheduled for arraignment over the next two weeks. The Vindicator
- ➤ John R. Greer Sr. was charged with animal abandonment and cruelty after video surveillance showed him taking a dog from a pickup truck on Aug. 6 near Risher and S. Leavitt roads in Warren Township, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. WFMJ
- ➤ A Columbiana man was indicted on seven counts—including aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and robbery—after breaking into a state representative's home on Hatcher Road on July 15 by using a wooden chair to break a glass door; he confessed to the crimes, remains in custody with a $500,000 bond, and is scheduled for arraignment on August 28.
