- ➤ Youngstown graduates from nine high schools gathered at Wick Park today for the East High Alumni Association's annual reunion picnic—running from noon to 7 p.m.—where music, food, and fun filled the day. - ➤ A crash on August 8 at 10:30 a.m. on State Route 82 in Braceville Township knocked down a utility pole, transformer and power lines, which blocked the road between State Route 5 and Bailey Anderson Road while Ohio Edison crews repair the damage—only a nearby farm lost power. WKBN

- ➤ Youngsters from across Ohio competed in a first-ever 4-H shooting sports competition held on Saturday at the Fish and Game Club of Vienna in Trumbull County — the event featured shotgun, rifle, pistol, archery and muzzleloader disciplines with coaching from Ohio 4-H instructors. Organizers said the competition taught life skills such as confidence and teamwork — a strong turnout means future events are likely. WFMJ
- ➤ About 40 4-H children competed in the first shooting sports match in Northeast Ohio held Saturday in Vienna (Trumbull County) to earn a chance to join the national event. The contest featured five disciplines including pistol, shotgun, rifle, archery and muzzleloader, and state coordinator Tom Baker said more regional shoots will be held with the next national competition scheduled for June 2026 in Nebraska. - ➤ Youngstown State held its first intersquad scrimmage Saturday as it prepared for its season opener against Mercyhurst—head coach Doug Phillips said the team made huge strides in offense and defense—while players got varied reps to set their roles for the game.
