- ➤ Westside Bowl remained closed Thursday because flooding forced a halt—concerts featuring Now That's What I Call Pop Punk and a show with The Crosses, Attaxia and Private Prisons were canceled. WFMJ
- ➤ Volunteers from United Way and the Mahoning Valley stuffed 2,000 bookbags at the Resource Center in Boardman last Thursday in the 15th annual Stuff the Bus event — the supplies will be delivered to local schools to help students in need. WKBN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Marquis Cambridge, 30, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. after a stabbing at the downtown bus station on West Federal Street — he is charged with felonious assault and will be booked into Mahoning County jail after a hospital exam while paramedics treated the victim on scene. WKBN
- ➤ Police in Warren arrested David Hollie for the murder of Choice Washington—shot on Scott Street August 3 and he was arraigned on August 14. WKBN
- ➤ Mahoning County Deputy Clerk Jennifer Ciccone filed a lawsuit against Timothy Lucas and Giant Eagle in Common Pleas Court for injuries she sustained in July 2023 when Lucas allegedly hit her twice with his car during a $500 grocery delivery—she seeks $75,000 in damages including legal fees. - ➤ The local theater is opening a new play called People, Places & Things today at the Youngstown Playhouse that tells a story of an actress fighting drug addiction. Directed by veteran Chris Fidram, the production will run for two weeks with shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is not suitable for children. WKBN
- ➤ At the 33rd Brier Hill Italian Fest, which runs from 4 p.m. to midnight today on Victoria and Calvin streets, the Mikey Dee Band played a mix of romantic and jovial tunes on Thursday and will play again on Saturday. An opening ceremony is set for 7 p.m. today and Charles Shasho of public works will cut chicken for Roasteria Tradizone Arrosto’s Panino di Roasteria — a toasted sandwich with marinated tomatoes, basil, and arugula with grilled zucchini. - ➤ Tickets for the upcoming Alice Cooper concert at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre were discounted to $25 on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through online purchases, and the concert will be held on August 17 at 8:30 p.m. at 201 South Phelps Street. WFMJ
