- ➤ The Catholic Charities Regional Agency will host Chefs for Charity tomorrow—featuring 23 local restaurants, live entertainment, raffles, and a cash bar to support local housing programs in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties—at Eastwood Event Centre from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $75. - ➤ Two Ohio lawmakers held a roundtable at The Public Library of Youngstown on Monday to gather community input on the Thriving Families Tax Credit proposal, which would give nearly 968000 families up to $1,000 per child age 0-5 and $500 per child age 6-17 for families earning less than $65,000—representatives said it could ease rising costs and help lift families out of poverty. - ➤ Trumbull County officials said during Tuesday's meeting that a new 911 center is needed. Today they will authorize a proposal process to lease a new facility—upgrades are estimated to cost between $1 million—$1.5 million. WKBN
- ➤ Howland officials approved a change in the township's employee insurance plan by renewing Anthem coverage from Sept. 1 until Oct. 1 and switching to Crumdale Specialty on Oct. 1—this plan increases medical costs by 10% while lowering dental and vision costs by 9.63% and 5% respectively. The new plan also offers a credit to help offset September premiums—helping manage recent cost hikes. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ On Tuesday, the League of Women Voters marked National Voter Registration Day at the Jewish Community Center (Gypsy Lane) by handing out absentee ballot forms and polling information; registration must be completed by October 6 for the November 4 General Election (online, by mail, or in person).
