- ➤ More than 500 people gathered Thursday at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles for the second annual Chefs for Charity event, which raised over $50,000 for Catholic Charities' housing programs. Local organizers—including Nancy Voitus and Bishop David Bonnar—said the fundraiser, featuring live music, raffles, and over 100 donated gift baskets, shows the community's commitment to help neighbors facing housing instability. - ➤ Animal Charity of Ohio rescued over 20 cats from a hoarding case in Youngstown and is asking the community for donations of supplies like cat litter and wet food — many of the cats were sick with upper respiratory infections. WKBN
- ➤ More than 2,000 people will join the 18th annual Buddy Walk at Eastwood Field this Sunday with teams tailgate-style in the parking lot enjoying music, dancing + cheer team performances to support a fundraiser for the Down Syndrome community. - ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley held Project Playhouse at Eastwood Field in Niles yesterday where volunteers from MCCTC, Southwoods Health and Braceville and Southington United Methodist Churches built nine playhouses—these playhouses will be delivered to local families. The organization will host a second Project Playhouse on Oct 2 at Penguin City Brewing in Youngstown. WKBN

- ➤ Cochran announced it will relocate its Columbiana Cadillac and Chevrolet dealerships to Boardman on October 2. The Cadillac dealership will temporarily operate in the Buick GMC showroom at 7997 Market Street + the Chevrolet dealership will move to 8010 Market Street to offer a seamless customer experience. - ➤ The Warren-Howland-Warren Joint Economic Development District met yesterday to plan for the new Kimberly-Clark plant, which is expected to bring nearly 600 jobs by the end of 2026. Officials said the $800 million project will let Howland Township handle emergency services — while Warren City and Warren Township share water, sewer, and tax duties. WKBN

- ➤ Youngstown State University President Bill Johnson will deliver his State of the University address today at 10 a.m. in Williamson Hall Auditorium to highlight a 2.1% enrollment increase and record degree completions, with the report noting strategic transfers from Eastern Gateway Community College + campus-wide efforts. - ➤ The new Warren-Howland-Warren JEDD Board met Thursday at the Trumbull County Planning Commission Office in Warren, where leader John Albers nominated Nicholas Coggins to serve a four-year term as board chair—Coggins, who works as the assistant director and economic development director, said he was honored by the nod. - ➤ Mahoning County ratified contract changes on Tuesday at the Lake Milton Fire Department—making the county, not the sheriff’s office, the sole contracting agency to house federal inmates from U.S. Marshals, BOP, and ICE. Sheriff Jerry Greene said the new terms follow Attorney General Dave Yost’s ruling and will support the county’s criminal justice fund through inmate revenue—about $125 per inmate per day. - ➤ Ohio State Parks were named the best in the nation when the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration worked with the National Recreation and Park Association to award Ohio the Gold Medal Award—beating Florida and Wyoming.
