  • Old-Fashioned Christmas in the Woods returned on Saturday in Columbiana's Shaker Woods as its 31st annual craft festival—featuring 230 vendors, live music, food and a guest appearance by Zack Ward from A Christmas Story—drew thousands and vendors will return next weekend to give shoppers an early start on Christmas shopping.  WKBN
  • Supporters gathered Saturday to celebrate Iberis's 25th anniversary as Second Harvest renamed its distribution center in his honor — marking his lasting impact on the Mahoning Valley.  WFMJ
  • On Saturday, local growers from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia gathered at the Parks Garden Center in Canfield for the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers Weigh-Off to see whose giant pumpkins would take top honors. Treasurer Quinn Werner said farmers spent all summer growing these pumpkins while heavy rain and humidity reduced the number of entries.  WFMJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Turnpike celebrated its 70th anniversary with a ceremony attended by over 400 people, where officials honored its role in connecting cities and boosting local business. OTIC said it will spend $320 million on maintenance upgrades + add new dynamic warning signs and a snowplow facility in Canfield to keep the road safe and efficient.  WFMJ

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Arrowhead Stadium Friday, Girard beat Poland 29-28 when sophomore quarterback AJ Pearson scored the game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion — the win came 29 years after his father last led the team to beat the Bulldogs and put the Indians in sole possession of the Northeast 8 Conference. Coach Pat Pearson said the hard-fought game gives his team momentum going into the season's penultimate week.  The Vindicator
  • At Hubbard Memorial Stadium on Friday night, senior quarterback Braydon Songer led Hubbard to a 42-0 win over Lakeview by throwing for over 250 yards, scoring two touchdowns, and rushing for another score. Coach Brian Hoffman said Songer's quick thinking and smart plays helped lift the team to a 7-1 record this season — reinforcing their strong offense.  The Vindicator
