- ➤ A new four-bedroom duplex for adults with autism is being built on Woodfield Court in Boardman—construction began Wednesday morning as Dylan's House celebrated the start of its first project. The building is expected to be completed in six to eight months—offering new support for families in the community. WKBN

- ➤ About 600 law enforcement officers lined Armed Forces Boulevard near Beeghly Center at Youngstown State University as they saluted OSP Trooper Nicholas Cayton’s casket—honoring him after he was killed Oct. 16 when his cruiser was struck from behind by a truck on State Route 11 in Canfield. - ➤ Four indie authors met with First News ahead of an upcoming book signing at Barnes and Noble in the Shops at Boardman Park on Nov. 8 from noon until 2 p.m.—they discussed the challenges and rewards of independent publishing and shared insights on turning ideas into finished books. WKBN

- ➤ John Check—a senior at Austintown Fitch—earned a perfect ACT score of 36 and is among less than 1% of students to reach this mark; he plans to major in creative writing in college. WKBN
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mill Creek MetroParks will close the bikeway between West Main Street (US 224) and Herbert Road and the side trails connecting Canfield High School and The Preserve at 8:30 a.m. today for soil sampling following the Material Sciences Corporation chemical spill, with reopening possibly delayed by inclement weather. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a meeting Wednesday, court appointed receiver Reg Martin met with city officials and downtown customers over heat outages at the SOBE plant that supplies 28 buildings. Martin said the primary boiler is reliable but he must add a backup plan—either a second boiler or fixing the connection to YSU’s system—to keep service running while some customers face losses. WFMJ
