- ➤ The Eye Ball of the Mahoning Valley hosted its annual fundraiser at Eastwood Event Centre in Niles to raise funds for the local nonprofit Sight for All United, which assists under-insured residents with eye exams, glasses and surgical care. Guests joined a wine pull and silent auction that supported expanded vision care programs in the Mahoning Valley and helped inspire the OhioSEE initiative. WKBN
- ➤ The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and local Catholic groups held the first Community Day of Hope event Saturday at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Warren — planned since April — to provide free meals, clothing and hygiene kits to people in need. More than 40 volunteers served nearly 600 meals to over 148 registered households and many walk-in guests, while Mercy Health offered mobile clinics including dental and mammogram vans. WKBN
- ➤ Nearly nine-year-old Amado Brown set up shop at Liberty's Wrap It Up! Holiday Market on November 15—selling T-shirts he made on a computer—and his father said the designs help him connect with others who have ADHD and boost their online Etsy sales. WFMJ
- ➤ The Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters hosted a craft show and food drive on Saturday at the Calvin Center for the Arts from noon to 5 p.m. to combat food insecurity in the area while accepting donations of canned goods, shelf-stable items, and hygiene supplies. WKBN

- ➤ Bishop Bonnar said last Saturday that a shortage of priests has forced the Catholic Diocese to change parish structures and form partnerships to serve local needs. The diocese has 45 active priests and will welcome new priests and extern priests—creating new opportunities for parish life. WKBN
- ➤ Downtown Youngstown saw residents cover themselves in paint on Saturday afternoon for an art therapy event hosted by Penguin City Brewing Co. and the HELMS Foundation— the event featured paint splatter suits, hydro-dipping and glow art to help people explore their emotions. WKBN

- ➤ Canfield Local School District faces funding uncertainty for 2026 as its forecast shows ongoing deficit spending covered by rainy day funds and potential property tax reform may force a new emergency levy, which could further strain its budget. The district plans to adjust its fiscal strategy while new treasurer Benjamin Marko works with retiring treasurer Pattie Prince to ease the transition—efforts aimed at preventing a severe shortfall. - ➤ Teresa Eury, a registered dietitian with the Cleveland Clinic, said eating balanced meals with lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy supports the immune system during flu season. - ➤ A new spay and neuter clinic called Lemony Snippet opened in Struthers Saturday and is run by longtime humane officer Fabian Pike. The clinic began by treating pets from a local shelter and now offers low-cost services including vaccinations, tests and surgeries to support pet care needs. WKBN

- ➤ On Saturday, YSU honored 23 seniors on Beede Field at Stambaugh Stadium before the Penguins beat Indiana State 48-29, with Beau Brungard throwing three touchdown passes and Max Tomczak catching seven passes for 107 yards.
