- ➤ Niles is hosting Wreaths Across America at noon Saturday to place wreaths on veterans’ graves, while the Girard Free Library offers a holiday craft at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Storytime with Santa will be at 11 a.m. Saturday near Southington. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ At Salvatore's in Howland Monday evening, veterans and their families said goodbye to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter, founded in 1992, which deactivated in October to give way for the Cover Down Fund that will carry on its scholarship program for combat-wounded members. - ➤ The Salvation Army continues its Red Kettle campaign to collect donations for families in need until Dec. 24 at local sites in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Volunteers from local groups have helped at various stores + community members can register online to serve as bell ringers and support food and toy donations. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Mill Creek MetroParks director Justin Rogers reviewed the 2025 capital improvements on Monday, Dec. 8, highlighting upgrades at Slippery Rock Bridge, George L. Fordyce Park and Lanterman's Mill site with federal grants and local funds aiding historic preservation and improved stormwater management. WFMJ
- ➤ Multiple holiday events are planned across Vienna, Warren and surrounding towns this weekend and in the coming days. Vienna United Methodist Church hosts a life-sized Candyland game with treats from Friday to Sunday, while Christmas in the Park, Hometown Holidays, a pop-up sale and musical shows brighten local festivities. - ➤ First Watch opened its newest location this morning at 1051 Boardman Poland Road and operates every day from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. except on Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Florida-based chain offers seasonal menu items and donates part of each kid’s meal sale to local nonprofits. WFMJ

- ➤ Epic Dance Complex in Canfield will present its first feature-length production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the W.D. Packard Music Hall in Warren, with choreography by Stéphano Candreva and a cast that unites local youth, pre-professional dancers, and guest artists. WFMJ
- ➤ The Polish Arts Club of Youngstown hosted its 90th Wigilia celebration Sunday at Sabi’s Restaurant in Columbiana, drawing about 90 locals who enjoyed traditional Polish dishes like pierogi and krupnik (a mushroom soup) and joined a singalong of Polish carols. - ➤ Joe Bonamassa and Gov't Mule (led by Warren Haynes) will perform at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre on Aug. 9, 2026 as part of an eight-date co-headlining tour. - ➤ Three new members will be inducted into the LaBrae Local School District Hall of Fame on Dec. 19, including two graduates and a former teacher and coach honored for their contributions to the school community. Tribune Chronicle
- ➤ Youngstown State University will hold three fall commencement ceremonies at Beeghly Physical Education Center with alumni speakers Tim Petrey, Sean Jones, and Judge Carla J. Baldwin.
