Onyx, a dog who spent seven years at the Animal Charity of Ohio shelter on Southern Boulevard, was adopted on Dec.
23 in an official ceremony before arriving at his new home around 12:30 p.m. Jenny Falvey said the moving event may inspire local residents to adopt shelter pets.
🎭 Culture
Penguin City Brewing Co. has announced its first-ever Foodie Festival set for Spring 2026.
The event will be held on May 16 and 17 at the brewery—featuring local food vendors and live music.
The Youngstown Creative Collective hosted a Kwanzaa event Saturday at Newport Library with a book swap and writing workshop focused on self-determination (kujichagulia).
Organizer Joseph Napier said the celebration will run through Jan. 1 and hopes the event's spark lasts into the New Year.
