- ➤ The Mahoning County Dog Warden said the dog pound reached full capacity on May 11 due to limited space for owner surrenders and a legal requirement to accept incoming strays. They urged dog owners to keep pets in secure yards and update identification with collars, tags, or microchips — as some owners did not retrieve surrendered dogs. WYTV
- ➤ Constance Burgess launched Bronson Family Farm at 2350 Lansdowne Blvd. (spread over 118 acres) with permission from Lansdowne Airport Association and held Community Grow Day last Saturday to introduce local farming techniques. - ➤ May is Stroke Awareness Month – a time to learn the BE FAST signs which mean balance, eyes, face, arm, speech and time – and doctors say to call 911 right away if someone shows these signs. Experts advise checking family history and taking healthy steps to lower stroke risk. WYTV
- ➤ Cancer survivors gathered at the 40th annual Relay For Life at St. Demetrios Community Center in Warren, where Charlotte Adams and others from Youngstown, Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties met for support and raised $68,845—just shy of the $70,000 goal. The five-hour event, held on a sunny Saturday, showcased community strength and shared healing stories as survivors celebrated their milestones. The Vindicator

- ➤ On Saturday, 165 athletes from five counties gathered at Arrowhead Stadium in Girard for the 14th annual Special Olympics, where every participant started the day in a parade and competed in several races and field events.
